Good, Better & Best

Have you ever had that feeling? The feeling that you were doing something that was definitely worthwhile, but you knew that you could be doing something better? Because I have. I have it all the time.
We live in a world where everything is so advanced and distractions are just around the corner. (My dad gives me this talk many times) And sometimes, the distractions aren't necessarily bad, such as texting or listening to music on the couch, but there are definitely better things we could be doing. ("Like emptying the dishwasher," says my mother, who's always got something for you to work on ;) But as much fun as texting your friends is, or seeing what's hot on the radio, it's definitely not the best thing we could be doing.

Whenever I get this talk from my dad, I always stop what I'm doing and ask myself, "What are some of the best things I could be doing?" Sometimes I can come up with some, and sometimes I can come up with a lot. Here's a list of the few of the things that come up first when I think of the best things we could be doing:
  1. Read the scriptures! (Better yet, study and mark them with little notes on your thoughts)
  2. Find something around the house that needs getting done, and do it!
  3. Help your mom with dinner (I've been told she loves that)
  4. Work on improving your talents
  5. Work on your eagle (. . . Don't worry it'll be done before Valentines day!)
  6. Call your friends and go do something! (If you didn't like all the previous ones)
  7. Use your imagination! Create another world! (See previous blog post "My little world")

And there are definitely many more things you could be investing your time in. Now I know I'm not the best example at this, but I'm working on it!

D&C 58:26-27

"For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore, he recieveth no reward. Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and bring to pass much righteousness." I also think that the verse after 27 is significant. It says,

D&C 58:28

"For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise loose their reward."

So remember, there are good things, and believe me, there are a lot of them! There are better things, which are still good, but they're not the best things. And the best things are the things that we want to be spending most of our time doing.

Oh, by the way, if you ever see me doing something that looks like it's wasting time, just slap me and say, "Trevor. Good better and best!" (. . . Ok don't really slap me. Just remind me :)

Somewhere In Between

You know those days when you say to yourself, "Man, I have every right to be happy right now, so why aren't I?!" This is one of those days. For me anyways, hopefully not for you ;) Don't ask me why, cause I'm not completely sure. I'm still trying to figure out myself. Questions like, "Why do I have no patience for this kind of thing?" and, "Why is this subject always on my mind?" Many times it's frustrating, and leads to a state of mind that I hate living inside of. Yeah, I'm a confusing kid. But trust me, I try not to be! I try to be as simple as I can so that people can understand me. Maybe it's on my journey to let everybody else see what I am, that I'm lost about myself. It's like one of those one-way glass windows. Everybody can look through and see me, but when I stare back, all I see is dark shaded glass. So today, I'm somewhere in between. In between emotions. Trapped between two conflicting things happening in my life. So how am I feeling about all of this?

Messed Up

Alright, who here that's reading this loves to sleep?! Woo! Yeah, I do too. But I'm going to let you in on a little fun fact about me.

Fun Fact #243:
Trevor could not sleep in if his life depended on it.

So with that newly found fun fact about me, you can imagine my pain on Christmas break when I stay up until 11:37. . .and wake up at 7:26! Yeah, I know! It's incredibly stupid! The best I can do is just lay there in my bed, hoping I will be able to drift back into a blissful slumber, but alas, it cannot come to pass with me and my messed up internal clock! But that's how it's been my whole life. Yep, I've heard many times that I'm a deprived child, but think of all the things you miss if you sleep till 1:00 PM! I would rather wake up early than late.
There are still times though when I wish that I would just knock myself unconscious and be out for the day. I won't deny it.

Peace

Christmas Time
What comes to your mind when you see or hear those two words?
For little children it's most likely big colorfully wrapped boxes holding inside them something they've been begging for all year. For more mature youth, such as teenagers, they've hopefully figured out that Christmas is a time for giving, and they start giving out presents to all of their friends and family. For the adults with children of their own, the first things that come to their mind are probably those of chaotic shopping, putting up decorations, and more. But they know that Christmas time is for time spent with the family and for Christ, and it really is.
What comes to my mind when I hear those two words?
Peace. Soft peace. Just feeling comforted, warm, and feeling loved. That is what I think of first when I think of Christmas time. I don't get much of this time to myself though, mostly because of my over excited younger siblings who are so eager they just can't control their actions and often run around the house screaming who knows what and playing with their new toys. Don't get me wrong, I love my siblings, but many times I wish they could just calm down and enjoy the peace of Christmas.
The night time is my favorite part about this holiday. Maybe not particularly on Christmas itself, but on days leading up to it. Christmas Eve is always my favorite time. We go, as a tradition, to our grandma's house for dinner, for the puppet show nativity, for the reading in Luke, and later in the night, she always has a new Christmas book that she reads us. By the time we're finished at grandma's house, our family piles into our car all bundled up in blankets ready to head home. I can never predict how the drive home is. Sometimes it's quiet, peaceful, and I can think clearly about things. Other times it's hugely chaotic and nobody can stop talking, let alone fall asleep. But those times when everything on Christmas Eve is quiet are the times I cherish. The one thing that I can think of comparing it to are the times when you're just sitting in the temple with no distractions or nobody talking around you. That peace that just flows so freely and smoothly through your body, and the knowledge that everything is alright, no matter what you're facing, is the peace that I think of when I think of Christmas time.
One of my most favorite things about Christmas is the music. Not the jazzy "Jingle Bells" or "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas," but soft music that just makes tears come to your eyes, although you can't explain why they do. Piano music is my favorite type of music to listen to at this time of year, just because it's such a powerful mood setter. For instance, when I listen to Christmas hymns like "O Holy Night," or "Away in a Manger," it's just so beautiful for me. That is, if everything else around me is still and quiet. I love listening to arrangements of these types of hymns without words, just so I can choose to sing along in my mind, or just let the flow of the notes take me away.
Now, don't think that just because I wrote this long blog post about how I love the quiet solitude of Christmas means that the only thing I enjoy about Christmas is that. No! I love everything else that comes with it! The family gatherings, the presents, the birth of Christ, it's just that the thing that I most enjoy about this holy holiday is the peace that so gently flows with it. The peace that surrounds everybody on this time of year. The peace that allows us to forget our troubles and our problems, and to let us feel loved and comforted. That is the thing I most look forward to about this time of year.
Peace

Hello

Good day!
Sometimes it's nice just to say hello.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Some things just aren't meant to be understood

Has anybody ever been confused? Like they had no idea what was going on? And no matter how hard you tried to understand it, something just hit you and hit you good. And the most frustrating part about it was that you didn't even know what it was that you're confused about.

That's my definition of confusing.

So I'm not sure what this post is about, just because I don't know what I'm confused about. But I do know that I am confused. If anybody were to ask me what was wrong, or why so serious, I would not be able to answer them. Truly. I've never been very good at finding the right words to say to people when I'm trying to give them advice, or trying to answer a deep question, and it's upsetting. So, so upsetting. I feel like a failure every time I stop in the middle of a sentence trying to think of the right thing to say, while in the mean time, everything else I've said just floats away in the air, like it never existed.

So I suppose that this post wasn't really meant for any of you, it was more for me. Sometimes you just have to write about your feelings, even if you don't know what your feelings are, just to make you feel better. But it has helped. If you read this, give yourself a pat on the back, because I just realized that this post really was for me. But thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Death by Duty

Ok, so in our ward, every national holiday, we put up American flags. (I'm sure most wards around here do it too) It is the young men's duty to post those flags in our ward. Through rain, wind, sleet, snow or hail the young men are expected to perform this task. If the ground was so iced over that you could skate on it like an ice rink, the young men are still expected to find a way to get that flag to stay upright. That's right. We are dedicated.

We are now rethinking our commitments.

Today, as many of you might know was Veteran's day! As you may also know, it's the middle of November. Snow has been falling here and there for a couple of weeks now. What is snow a sign of? That's right. The temperature has dropped enough to freeze the moisture. (A.K.A. It's freezing)

Now before I continue, let me just say one thing. I extremely, intensly, severely, with a firey passion, hate the cold. Hate snow. Hate everything that has to do with the frozen moisture. (Besides ice. Ice is cool)

So last night at about 8:00 I recieved a phone call from the 1st counsler in my quorum.
"Hey Trevor!" He says. "Guess what? Tomorrow is Veteran's day! Guess wh-"
I already knew what was coming.
"Flags." I said.
"Yep. 6:00 AM at Zack's house."
So here I come to Zack's house at 6:00 AM. It's dead dark outside. When I get to his house there's a car outside it. I get in and it's loaded with about 8 people. My assignment was Alpine Vista, so we go to the church, load up with our flags and rebar, and head out. By this time it's about 6:15. So we hop out of the car to start posting the flags, and I am just hit by a huge wave of pure coldness. Now I didn't notice this either because it was dark, or I was just to tired to notice, but the wind is huge! Like it always is in Lehi... Anyway, we're fighting against the wind up the street putting a flag at every house. It's so crazy cold outside right now that my fingers were white in the first 3 minutes. So about 10 minutes later I notice another funny thing that I should have noticed a while ago.
It's snowing.
That's just great. Snow + wind = one of the most uncomfortable situations ever. Ever. Anyway, by the time I get home I can't feel any part of my body, (yes, I was wearing a jacket. I'm not stupid) and it's just getting light. 6:50. Well, time to get ready for early morning seminary!

Don't get me wrong, I love teacher's quorum! I love young men's! I love all the war veterans who served our country! But sometimes times I dislike what we do in the quorum and as the young men of the ward. Such as this one experience.
Yes, I need to have a more optimistic attitude about the things we do together... Well, there's something I have time to work on!

Find the Strength

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that whispers, I'll try again tomorrow."
~Mary Anne Radmacher

I love this quote.

Many people would have to read this quote many times to find a deep meaning, while others look at it once, nod their head, and say, "what a great saying." But the people who really appreciate quotes like these are the ones that take action. Take action on what they know they can be better at. When I look at this quote, I see something that I have been struggling with for the past couple years. Something that I know that I have resolved many times to become better at, but never actually fully accomplished. The thing I'm talking about is self motivation.

It takes courage to motivate yourself to do something. It takes courage to say, "Yes. That is what I am going to do." Without anybody telling you it is required. Many times it will be required, and that alone takes much self-motivation. But it is when you aspire to do something on your own that people admire you. We call this setting goals. I know that I've set many goals this far in life, only to come short on a few of them. I was always angry at myself for not giving it my best effort. When you complete your goals is when you can say to yourself, "I've done it. I am the master of my fate."

I heard about an interesting study not too long ago. It was about students who went to Harvard University. A certain researcher went around and asked a few of the students there what they hoped to accomplish in life, or in other words, what their goals were. 84% of the students had no goals. 13% of the students had made goals, but hadn't written them down. Only 3% of the students that went to Harvard had made goals, and had written them down. About 10 years later the same researcher went back and found all of the students he surveyed. The results were astonishing. The 13% of the students that had goals and had written them down doubled the annual salary of the 84% of students that had no goals. Doubled. But here was the amazing part. The 3% of students that had written their goals down were making approximately ten times the annual salary of the 84% of students who had no goals. Ten times! Here is the reason that I think these students were the most successful ones.

When you make goals, you obviously try to accomplish them. But often you make too many goals that you are able to remember with all of the things happening in your life. If you write all of your goals down and put them somewhere where you see them often, you are reminded constantly of what you are trying to achieve.

So you may be asking yourself, "Well this is great about goals and everything, but what does this have to do with self-motivation?" Let me tell you by asking you a question. Why do you motivate yourself? What do you do it for? That's right. You motivate yourself to complete the personal goals you have set. Without your personal goals, what do you have to work for? What do you hope to achieve? Exactly. Nothing. So the point of this post is just to say, find the strength. Find the strength to 1) make your goals, 2) write them down and 3) achieve them. Achieve them through self-motivation. Find the strength. We can all do it. And I know that I need to work at it also. We will be so much more successful in life if we have something to work for, and we put in the effort to work for it. And if you don't finish one day, keep working at it.
"Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that whispers, I'll try again tomorrow."

Peter Pan

Hey, guess who's back! That's right, Trevor is! Wow it's been a while. Gosh, I've been Mr. Busy! Well, the biggest thing I got on here to post today is Peter Pan opens tonight! :D Excited? Yes! Everybody should come and see it, just because it's that great! Here's a video I made for the play, if you haven't already seen it.

I don't know how great it will show up on the blog cause it's a link from Facebook, but there it is! Hope you all come see it! :D

Here are some photos of me too. (If I'm without my hat, well, let's just say I was having troubles that dress rehearsal!)

A Weekend in the Desert

Oh jeez, it's been too long since I've posted, and this is just too good of a chance to pass up without writing about, so here I am! I don't know if I'll write about everything, because there's just too much, but I'll try to do my best.

Ok, so we get there Thursday afternoon at about 5:30 and we set up camp. After that's all done and everything we start to prepare the dinner in our dutch ovens. (Which are awesome by the way) Dinner will take about 2 hours to cook, so we go spying on the scouts 2 campsites down. Then we all got a sinister idea... Let's tent-pole them!! (For those of you who don't know what tent-pole means, it's a boy scout term for "Let's sneak up on some poor, unsuspecting, people in the dead of night when everybody is asleep and pull out their tent supports! Then book it.") So that's what we planned!

We also found this nifty little cave by our campsite. It looked like a little tunnel, but once you got inside, you had to climb up this narrow... rocky... thing. That probably didn't really make a lot of sense, but anyway once you got to the top, the little tunnel/cave thing opened up into this big area completely surrounded by all of the rock and mud, although there was no roof, so you could see the sky.

Dinner was finally done at about 10:00 that night and we ate. It was good! Chicken, rice, potatoes and carrots all cooked in a dutch oven! Mmmmm!

Anyway after dinner was done it was about 10:30. That's when we decided we should head out to the other campsite. So we got some red headlamps and headed off. When we got there, (the camp wasn't right next to ours we had to walk a ways) everyone was still awake and around the campfire. So we climbed up onto a hill next to their site and watched. And waited. And waited. And waited. Finally at about 11:30 they started to go to bed. That's when we sent out the first strike team. After they were positioned nicely, the second strike team went out. (Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that there were three tents, plus the leaders' tent) Two people were still positioned on the hill to give the signal for when the coast was clear. Once the people on the hill were certain everybody was in their tents, they waved for the strike teams to get by the tents. At one of the tents they were doing shadow puppets with their fingers... typical. Boy scouts. Then all of a sudden, a mini avalanche with rocks. The signal! One, two, three!

WUMP!

Down went the tents! We had to book it as fast as we could with making as little noise as we could. As we were running back we heard some of the boys, "Hey c'mon guys, that wasn't nice!" and, "Just go to bed already!"

But you see, we only took down two of their three tents.

We may never know the damage we caused that night between everybody's relationships in that troop, but we do know one thing, it was a blast!!

May 9, 2010

And oh... What to make of this?

Well G'day everybody! Haven't seen you in a while! Well maybe I have, but you know, metaphorically speaking. So time for the weekend...

  • Friday - Well I got home from school Friday afternoon and started to pack for my 2010 National Scout Jamboree camp out for our troop thingy ma-bob. At about 4:30 we left for the campsite which was up Payson canyon at camp Maple Dell. (It's a boy scout summer camp) On the way up we were playing The Worst Case Scenario Survival Card Game! (Travel edition) I got most of the answers right. Ha! At least I can survive a mob throwing a homade bomb into my car in New York... Anyway we got up to the place and I set up my tent. Then we had dinner and a little fireside/skit/song singing/cold little thing a little ways off from our campsite. Then I went to bed.
  • Saturday - I woke up and my nose was freezing! Haha but then again it always is when I wake up on camp outs. So in a nutshell, we packed up and went home, leaving at about 10:30. When I got home I showered. (OH YEAH!!) And then we left for family pictures at the AF Amphitheater. (Beautiful place, by the way) That took about 2 hours and so when we got home from that, it was time to go to the play at the high school, Thoroughly Modern Millie! I loved it! (I think I would do a pretty darn good job at playing Trevor Grayden) When we got home it was about 10:00, and I was pretty tired so I just went to bed. THE END!

Haha anyway, that was my weekend pretty summed up. So my question was, what to make of all this? I don't know! Because frankly, I don't really like camp outs, but the pictures and the play were awesome! So my weekend pretty much evened out.

My little weekend

Ta da! Guess who hasn't blogged for ever? I haven't! Well, Mr. Trevor, it's time to get back on track! Ah ha! Ok, here goes...

Alright, so on Friday I didn't go to the election dance 1) because I didn't want to, and 2) because I wasn't elected! (But I'm not bitter or anything so it's all good.) So instead of going to the dance I went to my house with one of my best buds, Jason! Jason and I just hung out at my house until Parker got back from the dance, and then we called Sterling... But of course he couldn't hang out because he had a karate tournament or something. So Parker, Jason and I all did stupid/awesome things at my house that night until 11:00! Hehe... Here are a few of the things we did.

  • TIRE SWING MADNESS!!!!! Once you get going, you'll never stop!
  • Being chased around by my little sister. (Which was not really fun it was more annoying because, no matter how many times she deny's it, you can totally tell she's in love with Parker)
  • Monkey balloon tower defense!! (If you have not played that game, it's so stupid but it's way addicting!)
  • Etc, etc...

Saturday morning at 9:00 I had my first lacrosse game. It was really fun! ...Except that we had to forfeit because not enough people showed up. And I got a huge wallop in the leg by the ball which was going at 100 miles per hour. And I twisted my ankle. And I got whacked in the back a lot... But otherwise it was a pretty good first experience! After I got home I had a long shower, then I called over Parker and Jason again. Sterling still couldn't hang out because he still had his karate tournament, so we started to play Monkey balloon tower defense again! (Note: That game gets really boring if you've been playing for two strait hours and you have so much defense and so many balloons that the computer lags sooooooo much!!) After Sterling's tournament was supposed to be over, we called him again... But he had a party to go to, and I had to go to my little sister's piano recital. After that was over I went to Parker's house and that's where I stayed for the rest of the night! (Many fun things happened that night that I will not talk about.)

On Sunday I had to get up early because the Deacon's needed help with fast-offerings (like always). After that I went to church. It was great. For Sunday dinner we had a ton of family come over! (Because it was fast Sunday and it was my mom's birthday) I did get some bad news that day though. I found out that I had a new cousin. His name is Isaac... But my uncle isn't married. :(

Well that was my weekend. Over and out.

Spring Break or Spring Fake?

Ok, since it's finally the end of Spring Break, I have decided that I need to post something about it. It started out very nice on a Monday, but then it got very boring on Tuesday. Let me give you the whole rundown.
  • Monday: Called Parker at about 11:00 to see if he wanted to film that day, but it was raining so we called it off. Then I just went over to his house and stayed there for the day.
  • Tuesday: Oh my gosh! Probably the most boring day of my entire life! I had nothing to do, no friends to hang out with, no nothing for anything! So finally at 4:30 I had lacrosse practice and that kept me doing something until 6:30. I was starving when I got home so I downed a whole Powerade container and had a slice and a half of pizza. Then I called Parker to tell him happy birthday and he invited me over to his house. (It was very nice because I was superbly, epically bored!!)
  • Wednesday: I started out this day by doing chores. (Ugh) After I got through with those I called Parker and I came to his house. When I got there we decided to walk down to Smith's to get 5 pounds of gummy worms! On our way there we stopped at Sterling's house and got him to come too. Once we got to Smith's and had the gummy worms, we walked back to my house and sat on my play-set eating our wonderful snacks. Then Parker's parents came and picked him up so they could go to Texas Roadhouse to eat dinner that night. So Sterling and I decided that it would be fun to film the rest of the movie I was making! So that's what we did until Parker came back, and when Parker came back, Sterling had to go. What a cowinkidink, eh?! And then we hung out at my house until 11:00, then his dad came and picked him up.
  • Thursday: My mother decided that it would be fun to go up and visit my grandma today, so that's where we went! We got up there around lunchtime and we had lunch. (Rolls with peanut butter and jam) Then once we got finished with lunch, we went mini golfing! Oh what fun! It was a nice day too, considering that Monday and Tuesday had been ugly with snow. After we finished mini golfing, (which by the way I won!) we went back to my grandma's house and stayed there until about 5:00. I had a play I was going to that night with a bunch of friends from the Joseph cast. It was Singing in the Rain. So we went to that and it was going pretty good, but then evil showed up and confronted me right in the mouth. That's right! In the mouth! Jacob Pixton at intermission had bought that movie popcorn down at the concessions stand. If you have never seen or tasted evil, movie popcorn is it!! I knew that I didn't do well with movie popcorn, but I was pretty hungry and it tasted so good! Then I went home.
  • Friday: My father had just gotten home from Chicago Thursday night, so we decided that we should do something as a family today. So after breakfast we went to Discovery Park! That is my favorite park in the whole world! It is made out of all wood and there are these little spinney thingies that you go around and around on until you will never be able to walk in a strait line again for the rest of your sorry life! So after we got finished with the park we went back to the house and got lunch. Then we decided it would be fun to go tubing up in Park City! So that's where we headed! Once we got up there, the tubing slopes looked pretty pitiful. People were sliding only halfway down, and then they stopped and had to walk their tube the rest of the way... So we decided to go to the Living Planet Aquarium instead! We got there and I wasn't feeling too good. I had to go sit in the car about halfway through the trip just because I couldn't walk anymore! On the ride home, I really wasn't feeling good. Right before we got home, I asked my dad to pull over the car. No sooner had he done it than, BLECH!! All over the dirt on the side of the road! This is why that stupid movie popcorn is so evil. It looks all nice and tastes wonderful... But the stupid fake butter totally kills the stomach! So I spent the rest of the day throwing up and being sick! Woo hoo! Ugh...
  • Saturday: Saturday was pretty much wasted for me because of my sickness. I just lied on the couch all day sleeping. (Which, by the way, sleeping is very uncomfortable if you sleep in jeans) Dinner looked great! ...But I dared not eat it because I knew if I did it would all come right back up. So I just went to bed. (And it was hard to fall asleep because of all of the napping I had done all day!)
  • Sunday: I feel a ton better today! It's only morning right now, but I'm planning on going to church and everything so that's Sunday.

So the week started off nicely on Monday, but then Tuesday was horrible. Wednesday and Thursday were ok, but Friday and Saturday were agonizing. So this is what I ask all of you, dear blog readers, was this a Spring Break, or a Spring Fake?

My little world...

So I don't remember where exactly I got this idea, but I've liked it! For about a week now I have been creating my own little land with magical creatures and everything. I've thought about becoming an author just because I thought it would be fun, and I'm pretty sure it would be!! I call my little place Fallegur Negara.
Fallegur: Beautiful (Icelandic)
Negara: Country (Indonesian)
I've also been drawing sketches of a map to go with it too! Haha this probably sounds really nerdy, but I think that it's a ton of fun! The little regions inside of Fallegur Negara are Everd Glen, Darten, Estiny, Tagostus, Aquanti, and Zaros.

Everd Glen:
  • Wizards, Elves, Nymphs, Fairies, Leprechauns
  • Live in trees, shrubs and hollow things
  • They usually like to keep to themselfs, like archery, and they want peace
  • Special powers: Magic, Teleportation, Wisdom

Darten:

  • Humans & their animals
  • Live in wooden houses
  • They want to expand, and they produce weapons and food
  • Special powers: Wisdom, Strength, Sneaky

Estiny:

  • Minotaurs, Golems, and Centaurs
  • Live in large cities and castles
  • They build large monuments, and they want to expand
  • Special powers: Power, Archetecture, Energy

Tagostus:

  • Trolls, Goblins, Giants, Dwarfs, and Hoarding dragons
  • Live in caves and mines
  • They mine and make weapons, and the always want more $$$!
  • Special powers: Strength, Can see in the dark, Expert miners

Aquanti:

  • Mermaids, Mermen, Sea Serpents, Naiads, Fish
  • Live underwater
  • They communicate with all sea creatures in their mind, they want all land creatures gone
  • Special powers: Breath underwater, Telepathy, Quick swimmers

Zaros:

  • Phantoms, Wraiths, Zombies, Demons, and Evil dragons
  • They dwell underground and any mortal that enters their lair becomes a zombie! (Oooo!)
  • Want to eradicate all of the creatures in Fallegur Negara and rule over the non-living
  • Special powers: Invisibility, Telepathy, Dark magic

I think that I could have a ton of fun with all of these little creatures and regions that I've made up inside of Fallegur Negara!! Well, that's all for now folks, and if you want to create your own little land too, go ahead and take some of the ideas that I've had with mine! Hehehe...

The Accordion Rampage!

Hehehehe.....

It has been a long time since I have annoyed my mom so much that she's tackled, cornered, and ambushed me! ....And I quite enjoyed myself!

It all started when my grandma announced an early Easter egg hunt. Everyone would get an early Easter present, but there was a catch. They had to FIND it first!! So we were all let loose in our grandparent's basement. As all of my siblings and cousins were searching for their present, I was just kinda wondering, finding everyone else's. As I was wondering, I came across this accordion that I used to play with a ton when I was a little younger! At first it all started out as a little blast from the past thing, but when I started to play it a little bit, my mom started to get kind of annoyed and asked me when I would be looking for my present, and when I would stop this nasally sound coming out of the play accordion etc. So I thought to myself, Hehehe.... I could have some fun with this! So instead of continuing to wander around the basement, I went prancing around like a court jester in medieval times. Soon my mom came over to me and told me that the next sound she heard coming out of that stupid thing would get it taken away from me.

...Like that stopped me...

So soon she heard it again and my dear, sweet mother came running down the hall and tackled me!!! She made me give it to her until I had found my Easter present, and THEN I could do my victory song. So I found it and showed it to her, and she reluctantly gave up the accordion... with a time limit. I never heard the time limit because I had started to play it again. Then my uncle got the ba-jibbers and came and tackled me! He gave the accordion to my aunt, and made her keep it away from me. I got it away from her though.
When everyone went upstairs for desert and such, my mom made me stay downstairs with the accordion. I agreed. So they all went up stairs and I started to play it again... Then I got this fun thought. She never said anything about not playing LOUD.... XD (Yes, I did have that type of smile) So I mustered up all of my accordion playing experience and with one loud BLAT!, she came barreling down the stairs and chased me into a bedroom! After I had finished screaming and laughing and running into the bedroom, I came to find out that she wasn't in there with me. So I quietly went to the door and tried the handle... But it turns out that my mom was on the other side holding it shut. So I started to play again! That got her to come into the room and try to take it from me again, but I kept it close and tight. So after she left I snuck out of the room very cautiously because I figured that she was gonna be around any corner. Which she was. But it was a door instead. Then she ambushed me and I ran again.
She finally went upstairs to finish her desert, and I snuck around to the back door. I got the accordion ready and opened the door!

BLAAAAAAAT!!!!!!

Hehehehe...... That was the best!

Braces...

I hate these stupid metallic substances that latch onto your teeth and cause you nothing but discomfort and pain for the whole time you wear them!!! Here are the reasons why I hate these stupid things:

1: They're stupid
2: They're lame
3: They hurt. A lot! (For the first week)
4: They're stupid
5: I didn't even need them in the first place!!!!!!

Thank you all for listening to my complaints, we will now go to a commercial break.

~Are your teeth perfect? Do you love pain? Does your mother fall into the traps that orthodontic doctors place in order to milk people for their money?? Then you need braces! The #1 thing that everyone hates!! Locate your nearest orthodontic doctor today to get your unneeded "teeth straiteners"!! ....Or we will find you....~

Thank you for joining me today, that's all I have. Good night everybody, and may your teeth be forever strait!!

The tales of Mahonry-Moriancomer, Episode 3

As we last left Mahonry-Moriancomer and Phil, they had just entered the mysterious building in the Land of Ho!

"Wow Phil.... this kinda reminds me of the great and spacious building often talked about where I used to live..." Observed Mahonry as they entered the building. The walls of the building were plastered with banners of rainbows and leprechauns. The ceiling of the building was so high that they couldn't even see it!
"Oh P.U.!" Exclaimed Phil. "What is that awful smell??!!" Phil started to peek around the area to find the smell, while Mahonry-Moriancomer tried to find a vending machine.
Hmmm.... Thought Mahonry. Now where would I find a Scorpio-ade? Let's see, could it be this...?
"Oh my goodness Mahonry!!!" Phil suddenly shouted from a room that he had previously entered. "I... I think I'm going to be sick..."
Dang.... I guess it wasn't! Oh! How about over here....
"M-M-Maho-Mahonry! I.... I..." Phil's voice grew quiet.
Ah! Here we are! Mahonry thought triumphantly, and popped open a can of the ever loved, Scorpio-ade! "All right, Phil. Here I come." Mahonry called back as he chugged his Scorpio-ade. Mahonry walked over to where he thought he had heard Phil's voice coming from, and entered the room... but Phil wasn't there! "Phil! Phil!! Where are you??" Mahonry called. "I thought that you wanted to show me something!"
All of a sudden Phil crawled through the door that Mahonry had entered from. "I did.... But..." BLECH!! And with that, Phil threw up all over Mahonry's Scorpio-ade!
"Now look what you've done Phil!!" Cried Mahonry-Moriancomer. "That was my last quarter that I spent on my Scorpio-ade! And I wasn't even half way done with it!!!"
"Mahonry..." Phil whispered as he wiped off his mouth. "You definitely won't want to drink that when you see what I saw in that other room...."
Mahonry sighed, and followed Phil into the room that Phil had previously been in.

What will be in the mysterious room?! Anxiously anticipate the next, Tales of Mahonry-Moriancomer, Episode 4!!!

Family slide-show

This is just a little slide-show I put together of my family :)

Hope 'yall like it!

Good times!

Aww man! Today was our last Joseph performance! :( Everyone was crying, it was sad! But we had so many good memories :D We went to Arctic Circle as a cast after the last performance on Saturday night to hang out and just to have fun! Awwww man!! I was super hyper!!!! It was awesome! I was so hyper that I even got the cast to dance in a few songs with me! :D Hahaha, but now I think I've lost my voice, hahaha! One of my most favorite parts of being in a play is hanging out after the Saturday night performance is over, even though it's super sad. :'( ....But we have one more cast party after school on Tuesday in Miss Boren's room!! :D Yeah!!!
This is Dan, sayin' "Good bye yall! I'll be hopin' that I'll be a seein ya soon!!" And Trevor saying, "Amen Dan!!!!"

February 17, 2010

Last rehearsal!

Oh my goodness!!! Today was our last Joseph rehearsal!!! I can't believe it went by that fast!!

....I AM SO FREAKIN' DISAPPOINTED IN OUR CAST!!! Oh my goodness you guys, seriously! Step it up! Wow.... Really, can't believe that it opens tomorrow.... Everyone should still come to see it though! It's an awesome musical, but don't make fun of us just cause we stink! We're trying our hardest! (most of us anyway...)

Hehehe.... The flex performance was pretty fun today also, but we could have been soooooo much better!! .....And I lost my sock!! How does one lose a sock? And not two socks, JUST ONE SOCK!! I was going around for the second half of school wearing only one sock!! :'( My foot was getting really sweaty and gross! I even asked my 4th period teacher if I could take of one of my shoes to let it air out....... but 'twas all in vain.....

Anyway, everyone come to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!!

Flags

Oh man! Out from doing flags comes the good, the bad, and the ugly!!

The Good: When it's really windy or rainy, and you're running really fast with a flag, it looks awesome!
The Bad: You're hands get SO COLD!!!
The Ugly: All of the mud on the re-bar that splatters onto you're hands when you pull it out of the ground!

But even with all of that, it's awesome! (Except when you have to wake up way early to put them up) Those who have never put up flags on holidays, well..... Only the stuff that I named up there is what you're missing! So if you don't really care for any of that, then be glad you don't have to do it!

February 14, 2010

Awesome weekend!

This weekend our cousins came down from Ely, Navada yesterday and we went ice-skating! :D (3rd time in my life ice-skating, and all in the space of 2 months!) Then we went and "fed the ducks" which was us just throwing bread into the river. For the ducks, it was survival of the fittest to get a piece. I noticed that one of the ducks had waddled away from the other group onto the bank, so I threw a whole piece of bread at him. (Not to be mean or anything, I just thought that he hadn't gotten any pieces of broken bread when he was in the river)
When we got done with that, we went to our grandma's and had spaghetti for dinner, (blechh!) and watched Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs!! :D That is like my most very favorite movie ever!! Then most of the littler kids went to bed while Jake and I (The 18 year old cousin) stayed up until 11:00 playing The Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation! It was EPIC!! Hahaha, well.... probably mostly because I won all of the games we played.... ;) So after church today he played my 6 year old brother in it, and rejoiced when he won. "Finally!" In his words, "I can rest in peace knowing that I'm not a complete failure at this game!" (Which kinda goes to show how bad I creamed him last night!)
Then Sunday night we stayed up until 2:00 AM!!!! :-0 !!! We first played ping-pong in the basement and we got soooooo hyper it wasn't even funny!!! ....Actually it was way funny! We were laughing at everything! Then Jake dove for the ball, but he missed and landed on it instead, so that ended the ping-pong fun. (The ball had a HUGE dent in it! Hahaha) Then my dad came down with us and we played 3 games of Pandemic: On the Brink! It was intense!! I was the bio-terrorist who goes around infecting cities and really making the game hard for my dad and Jake! ;) Hehehe..........
Anyway, I've got play practice tomorrow morning from 8:00-12:00, and I've got to get up early to put out the flags for the day, so adios!

The tales of Mahonry-Moriancomer, Episode 2

As we last left little Mahonry-Moriancomer and Phil the Slug, they had just ran away from their home.

"I'm tired of being all dragged around, Mahonry!" Phil the Slug complained. "My belly is getting oh so very dirty."
"I'm sorry Phil," Mahonhry-Moriancomer apologized. "But for a slug on a leash, there's not much choice that you have." Phil sighed. He knew that Mahonry-Moriancomer meant well, but he was just SO TIRED of being dragged around for a whole week! They had been gone now for about that long, but Phil had lost count.
"Can't we just rest for just a day?" Phil moaned.
"No Phil."
"Half a day??"
"No Phil..."
"Just-"
"No Phil! I want to get as far away from home as we possibly can before we stop." Mahonry explained. "Even if that means...gulp...NO SNACKS!"
"Mahonry!!!" Phil exclaimed. "You're out of your mind! No snacks?? What are you? Uhhhh...out of your mind?!"
"Phil! We ran out of snacks yesterday, you finished the last granola oat, remember??"
"Ah yes... That was a good one, that was... Gee... I can still taste-"
"LAND HO!!" Mahonry-Moriancomer suddenly yelled.
"Mahonry, you ARE out of your mind! We've been traveling on land since we left! We-"
"Phil, no! That's not what I meant! I meant that we've reached the Land of Ho!" And sure enough, they had! They both stared at the sign with the words, "Welcome, all you weary travelers who have probably run out of all your snacks yesterday, to the Land of Ho! Where everything is joyous and happy! In just two more steps you will be inside the Land of Ho where you can take two rights and a left to get to the main building. Hope you have a nice stay!"
"...But Mahonry," Phil said as they finished reading. "There only IS one building."
"Then that must be the one, Phil!" Mahonry said, and they walked inside.

Join us again in, The tales of Mahonry-Moriancomer, episode 3!

February 8, 2010

Once upon a time...

There was a scorpion. This scorpion loved to go on long walks with his pet slug. He named his pet slug "Phil the Slug." He knew that his parents disapproved of his lovely moss-green pet, and his friends thought it was disgusting, but he loved Phil anyhow. (Oh and P.S., the scorpion's name was Mahonry-Moriancomer)
So One day as Mahonry-Moriancomer was taking little Phil for a long walk, his friends came up to him. They started to tease Mahonry-Moriancomer. Mahonry-Moriancomer didn't like that at all so he told his friends, "Stop!" But they just kept teasing Mahonry-Moriancomer anyway. So Mahonry-Moriancomer ran away from home with Phil.

What will happen next? Will Mahonry-Moriancomer decide to come back? Or will he die in the wild? Find out next week in The tales of Mahonry-Moriancomer, episode 2!

Today

Today is today. Not to-yesterday or even yesteryear, just today. (It's not tomorrow either, but who cares about the future)
Right now I am up at my grandma's house stuffing myself with junk food. Ahhhhh, fast Sunday! Both good and bad. The good is that when you're done fasting, it's a free-for-all for the food!!! :D The bad is that before you're done, you get kinda hungry... ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR WHOLE SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS FINISHES 15 MINUTES EARLY AND ALL THEY CAN THINK TO TALK ABOUT IS IN-N-OUT BURGER!!!
Ugh, ok sorry for that little spazm, but anyway, yeah. :) It worked out pretty good though! (The super bowl landing on fast Sunday I mean) Cause it's a buffet!!
Anyway, this is Trevor, Over and out.

New game

Ok, so just if any of you are wondering, no. I have never been attacked by cheese.
Secondly, I'm in the process of making a new game! I still haven't come up with a catchy title yet, but it's gonna be about settling the Utah territory. Kinda like Settlers of Catan. (If you know that game) I've come up with some awesome game-play rules and stuff. Anyway, it's gonna be awesome!

February 2, 2010

Tuesday, February 2

Well today I had play practice and It went awesome! I can't believe the play is in only 2 weeks away!!! Holy kamoli! I can't wait!!
Also, all of the brothers in the play are singing the national anthem at the girls' last basketball game tomorrow. That's way exiting, exept that it's right when play practice is so we're gonna have to skidaddle right on back to be there before much happens that we miss! Mr Baugh is our "conductor" if you will, haha. :) He's the one who got all of this stuff together so lets give a hand for "pops!" (That's just what all of us brothers call him in the play :D) Syanara 'till tomorra!

EPIC! The movie

EPIC! The movie, staring Trevor Howell and Parker Skousen. These two ordinary people really do not like each other, and this is their tale on getting to become friends. Only watch this if you have nothing better to do, because it's a time waster! (4 whole minutes of your life!)

Well let's get started I guess.... :)

Ok, so this Sunday I gave a little talk in sacrament meeting. It was about the temple and the importance of it and the blessings you get from it and such..... All in all, it came out to be just about 2-3 minutes. :P Go figure. Give a teenager a talk and they get just the bare minimum...
Anyway, we also got 2 new games to try out, so after church we got one of them out, but Caleb (that little trouble maker, haha) opened the box and claimed that there, "are no instructions for this game!" So now we don't have any instructions for our new game. Hahaha, oh well, that's what the internet is for, right? Anyway, that was my Sunday!

First post

Well hello everybody who cares, this is my first post! So let's see how this works....
